Constructed my canopy this weekend, I thought it turned out pretty well.

There will be 3 mounted shop lights, as you can see the 3rd had to be mounted to the door to fit, and to allow the glass hood to open lol..

I don't do much wood working but I thought it came out pretty good.

I will hopefully start conditioning it and staining it next weekend, I'll post update pics. Check out the journals forum for the entire thread on the tank (domjd's125)

Those look just like the regular ol' fouorescent lights im using in my tank. How good are they for plants? Ive always wondered.

Will this be a planted tank?

They probably are. They are just 4' 40w strips, at 6500k. There will be 3 light fixtures when its done, so 240watts of light on 125 gallons, just a hair under 2WPG, all at 6500k, should be plenty light for a Moderately planted tank..

Some people say that the shop lights don't produce enough lumens.. I checked and these put out about 2,300 (per bulb)or so...

I've had plenty of people tell me for a Mod. planted tank this should be sufficient with a good substrate and ferts.
