im getting another tank!

My parents were trying to coax me into going to a auction viewing, and i said no. They then said maybe they have aquariums ( they never have before )

I went in, and a FREAKIN 20G WITH A HUGE AQUACLEAR, and all accessories, and a 12g with all accessories!

Im for SURE getting the 20g, no matter what. Its a small auction, with 50 people about, so i have a good chance for getting it for 20$. Im willing to go up to 120$.

My auratus would go in it since he outgrew his current tank

Hope you get it but don't go paying out $120 for it. Too much for a 20 gallon.

Its got ALOT of stuff with it, and i doubt anyone else really wants it. If i can get the 20g for less than 50$, i'll consider the 12g

its in an hour and a half.

well, the 12g set went for 20$, and i never really wanted it so i didnt buy it, and the 20g? (could be a 25g ) never went yet. I asked when it would go on and they said at the end ( 4 more hours ), so im getting someone to buy it for me when it comes, and i go pick it up.

That's odd...usually if you ask to have an item...esp. one that's not a big seller or expensive, moved up...they'll do it for you...

I hope he's off spending time with his very nice girl-friend and his wonderful parents...

...instead of scrubbing his new tank...

cocoa_pleco
04-16-2007, 02:55 AM
it was clean and scrubbed.

Gross thing is yesterday at the viewing, i asked if i could buy the tank for a set price (they let you do that sometimes), and he said no, the tank was a estate item, meaning i have some dead dudes aquarium, and it had to be auctioned

YaYgoldFish

lol....cursed aquarium?

Rue

I wouldn't worry...

I think any dead aquarium guy would WANT his stuff to be appreciated by a fellow aquarium guy...

if i was using the tank as a hobo toilet or a bathtub, id feel bad, but this guy had quite the set-up. the aquaclear is awesome

The one thing i dont trust is those iron stands. Those things look a little too bare to hold 200lbs, but mine is holding. I kept checking it all night to make sure the tank wasnt crashing down

Rue

Iron stands are, argueably, the best...just make sure the welds are tight and there's no major rust...

Chrona

Iron stands are solid. No warping....ever ^_^

A 33 gallon tank would weigh about 275 pounds.

i just cant see how a few bars can hold that much weight, but whatever.

The tanks cycling. too bad i cant have another 8 hour one. This one looks like it'll take a while

youve never welded before, have yoy? Most metal tings are helf together by welds.

cocoa_pleco

this babys not welded, its held by a few bars and screws hold the bars in place

Here we go again!

Another auctions tomorrow, and i looked today and theres a ........................

brand new 20g with hood, light, heater, and penguin filter.

Im getting someone to go get it for me, 20$ max. I dont really need it too bad. Im still working on the 33g ornament wise. The 33g already has a severum and clown knife, and the clownknife gets godzilla sized, so im gonna back off for a bit

Rue

*ack*

Forget the 20g...save up for a 300g!!!

cocoa_pleco
04-21-2007, 11:57 PM
i have the cash for the 300g, im just waiting for the freezer to die, then hire someone to cut out the front and line glass in it

Rue
04-22-2007, 12:03 AM
...I don't think the freezer idea is gonna work...just a little intuition...

cocoa_pleco
04-22-2007, 12:06 AM
it should. I cut the front, line the WHOLE inside with glass, use 200000000 tubes of silicon, get a few fluorescent fixtures, one of those rena star xS1 canisters for up to 400g, and PRESTO!

Why hire someone? Grab an angle grinder, a carbon fiber blade, and go nuts! Make sure you drain the free-on though. Save the copper too. Its 6 bucks a pound here

Rue

Just go buy yourself a nice, used, 300g show tank...

...it'll be a lot cheaper and look a lot better...trust me on that one...

cocoa_pleco
04-22-2007, 12:44 AM
actually, i could do it myself. I can get CHEAP glass.

Thanks for the idea drumachine

Since you are going to line the whole inside in glass, why dont you subtract the freezer from the equation, and make yourself a tank? It seems much more logical. You would need to get some wood to make the rims, as i personally wouldnt trust a rimless 300 gallon tank.

cocoa_pleco
04-22-2007, 03:09 AM
actually, thats a good idea too.

I dont think i'd make it a sleek, sexy rimless one like chrona would say. lol

I dont trust rimless tanks
