Everyone loves a well arranged tank, no matter what the decorations are - plants live or fake; rocks; driftwood; sand or gravel, plain or colored; sunken ships; bobbing divers; Roman ruins; whatever.
The question is: How long do you spend arranging the decor?
Personally, I will arrange and rearrange the tank decorations until it's "just so." Then I leave it alone.

Once every 4-6 weeks I'll rearrange the decor. Takes a few hours in my tank.

I usually get it right the first time, but I am very good at visualization. I do spend a lot of time visualizing though. Occasionally I'll find something I like better, in which case I make the changes and that's that.

I am pretty much on the same boat as jaysee. Once its there i leave it i dont want to stress out my fish to much by moving everything around a bunch of times

I plan it out well enough so I have to keep rearranging and bugging the fish. I put stuff back that uproots itself though

I'm too lazy to redo my 30g, even thought it badly needs it. :hmm3green2orange:

I let my son choose the decor (he still insists that it is his tank)......but I make "suggestions".

I tend to get an idea, work it out in mind and on paper, not find the plants I want, not find the fish I want, get some RAOKs and cheap plants get a couple fish from the LFSs, get pissed 'cause they're sick. I then spend the next few months tweaking and tweaking and tweaking, adding what I can, when I can. End with something I actually like and am proud of.

I usually spend a few hours cleaning and reorganizing the whole tank every couple WC's. For days after that I will continue to change things up until I like it. I do this less often though the heavier planted the tank is.

I just spent the last 3 1/2 hrs doing water changes on 3 tanks.
I rearrange stuff as I vacuum.I do put it back somewhat like it was.I do remove and change some rocks around.

Oh I'm bad... I'll walk by a tank and see something I didn't like and have to move it an inch to the right... Next thing you know I've got everything out of the tank and I'm starting over again. I have 6 tanks so this kind of thing happens a lot. :hmm3grin2orange:

I spent about 2 hours removing all the "artificial" stuff from my tank and replacing it with driftwood and rocks. I had to arrange the new stuff around established plants.
I like to mess with the tank layout nearly every water change. I think I am happy with the new look though. Except I need more plants. :shappy:

I used to mess with things a lot, then I got to the point where I would think it out first, and maybe tweak it here or there. Even if its just an inch here or there. lol.
But now, I think i'm FINALLY happy. I'm actually quite satifisfied (more than i've ever been). I can actually sit here and just watch the fish and admire the fruits of my labor, rather than thinking.....hmmm, I think I want to move that. :ssmile:
