I got an accidental (but still pretty big) snail from the pet store the other day (they keep their snails for sale in the plant tank). His shell is cracked, the edges are thin and transparent and its got green lines. There are so many I cant even tell if its an ivory or back mystery snail! Whats going on and what do I do?

It needs calcium in its diet.
The water it came from must be real soft and have a low ph.

My snails have odd colors. Some brown, some gray, some red, some greenish looking.

Can you post a pic? You really need to add calcium for the snail, otherwise the shell with erode and be easily damaged. I have heard of people putting crushed up calcium pills(people kind) in a flat dish for the snails(in the water). Or making calcium blocks, there are all kinds of recipes on line. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] is a great website to find info and recipes. I think you can even use those calcium blocks meant for turtles.
