Seems no one in this area has any petricola available, though the african LFS has lucipinnis. How closely do the two species interact? I've got a lone petricola who needs buddies, would the lucipinnis be sufficient company for him? Do I need to keep looking?

I doubt the fish would be worried about the difference, it's only a slight difference in pattern/markings and maybe one fin ray that separates the species. Chances are they'd interbreed, but raising fry takes a good bit of effort. You aren't likely to end up with a tankful of hybrids...

Ok, cool! Red knew of some petricola available but I'd rather not receive mail order fish simply because the staff at the apt complex are good at losing packages for days. Would hate for that to happen with fish.
I definitely don't want hybrids but I'm not going to be raising any fry either.
