Well, I've been picking up the fish here and there. You know how it goes. This one was on sale, this one looks real cool, this one is an unusually good looking specimen, etc. I've now got 23 fish in a 29 Gallon aquarium! In my defense, most of them are only 1"-1.25" long species and seven are 2"-2.5" species. One or two of them will hit 3" max. I've got a snail and four shrimp on top of that. So far no problems, but I think I better quit.

It's not as bad as I'd thought really. I do two 5 gallon changes a week along with gravel vacuuming. The cats, snails, and shrimp keep the bottom picked pretty damn clean. I have a whisper 30 and an under-gravel filter using an air pump rated for 80 gallons. I use live plants in bunches, and although they generally slowly die over the months, they still seem to suck up all the available nitrogen. A big bubble wall on the back helps airation and keeps the water going from top to bottom.
