Do you have any snail? If you do, it could be dem going around your gravel and like water goes out.

I figure it may be gas pockets releasing but I have never heard of it with gravel. It wouldn't pack down enough for that.
Hmmmmmmm

I've been watching more closely the bubbling starts after the lights have been on about 6 hours. the places that bubble are under or near large clumps of plants. java ferns and red lugwegia. call me crasy but
i think it is related to increased plant growth. My java ferns seem to spread more by runners than plantlets an I think they may be tunneling through the gravel and releasing o2. my javas are really loving 3 watts and have red tips on the new groth that is kind of pretty. I didn't know java could get a red tint.

Its kinda cool to see the difference in the lighting! I will be getting T5 lighting for my plants....I don't think my current lighting is cutting it.

Are those the only plants your growing?lol:hmm3grin2orange:
Thats quite the observation.I would be interested to know if they are related.
Do you have snails in your tank?
I don't think the roots are the cause.I am no plant pro though!
