Right now i have a 90 gallon tank that has one albino tiger oscar and 3 silver dollars.I have seen some videos and pictures of jack dempseys lately and they are a very nice looking fish.Would i be able to add one to my current tank or would i be better off getting a tank with a longer footprint than 4'.I have 2 ac 110 on it for filtration and could add a xp3 no problem if need be.
Also would the jd be to aggressive for a oscar? Thanks for any ideas.

Some JDs are very aggressive.
I have seen many JDs and oscars live together but they were introduced as juvies when the tank was first put together.
It may hurt your oscar or SDs.It may not.
Its a risk!

What would be a minimum tank size for a lone jack dempsey if by chance he is just to crazy for my current fish?

I say 55 gal bare minimum for most cichlids.
This link will help.

I have a JD with my oscars. My oscars are about 3 times larger than the JD, but they get along for now. They've been together for about 6 months. May have luck out with that one for now.

You can but will need to keep an eye on the Jacks.
If you get an alpha male, he could do some damage to your oscar.
In a past tank I tried and ended up with two tanks, one for the Oscar's (had a tiger and a red) and one for the Jack.
Oscars are a great fish but can be easily abused/hurt by many of the other SA cichlids....
If you really want, try it. Just be aware if it doesn't work out...
Enjoy!!

I put a baby JD in with my 4 inch Oscar, and they've lived peacefully together in a (75 Gallon with (2) 110/500 Aquaclear filters). They have lived together for 6 months and my Oscar is 9 inches and my JD is about 5 and a half inches.
The first 2 pics are the Jack Dempsey. The other pic is the Oscar he's living with. Enjoy....

Some people have good luck mixing them, and some end out losing their oscar to a jack less than 1/2 it's size. A single JD will do fine in a 30 gal long tank, but don't try it with a 30 gal high. They need a tank thats at least 3 feet long. A 4 foot or longer is best. I have a tank full of juvi jacks, and have been considering setting up another tank for a an oscar or 2.
