Hi ,

I've had my rescue Betta fish for about 3 years now and he has been fit and healthy up until now. A little while ago he went bendy, he's curved in the bottom half of his body downwards and most of the time he sits on the bottom of his tank. There is also a little lump on one side of his tummy, down lower. When I feed him he swims up to eat but he doesn't alt long before he sinks back down the bottom. Other than that he seems happy. Is this a swim bladder problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

3 years? that is about the average lifespan. A picture would really help as far as the lump goes. To me it sounds like he is old and has a tumor of some sort.

Sounds like he is a little constipated (yea, it happens to fish too.) Try feeding him a pea, lettuce or some other type of vegetable to help him get some fiber.

My betta likes the peas, but some are different. You can blanch it, skin it and then give it a squeeze before dropping it int the water. Remove uneaten portions.

Look for waste on the bottom of your tank. If it is relatively clean, this is most likely your problem.

Welcome to the Fabulous AC!
Sorry to hear about your fish.
You did really well having him for 3 years.
The unfortunate part is that he is very near the end of his life span. The average anyway as aji has said!
I do agree that it may be a tumor.Pics of the fish would really help.
