my bluegill is being kinda strange today. i put him in a bigger tank, aclimated him, and released him. about 2 hours ago, i noticed he kept goung to the surface. the ph is fine, but he just sort of sits there almost diagonaly in the water, right at the surface. does anyone know what this is and how to stop it? im almost worried because usually he is a very active fish

Oh, I thought you meant Mr. Bluegill lol.

Was the larger tank cycled? how long did he stay in? Whats your parameters?

yes the tank is cycled and the parameters for the ph were between 7-7.5

What about your nitrates and ammonia?

Nitrites too!
They are all fish killers!
Ph is important but as long as its stable its nowhere near as much of a killer as most fish store employees think.
You need test kits for these.
Until then a large water change will help.

Is your bluegill gasping for air at the surface? Might be low oxygen in the water. Maybe try an airstone.

i have an airstone in the tank. i guess ye was just sort of freaked out about the move somehow. i came home and found him swimming around normaly, so i guess its passed. thats the only reason i can think of, as water params were ALL in the green.
