I have seen stands for large tanks made out of 1x4 pine, but I prefer wood I can't break without tools. 2x4's would work fine, the biggest issue is going to be HOW it is constructed. google DIY aquarium stands, there are a lot of great plans out there.

I built my 90g and 125g stands out of 2X4s with 2X6s for the corner upright parts and the frame of the top and base. Probably overdid things a bit but they're sturdy. I figured if it'll hold my truck...................

You may want to look into another xp3 depending on how you stock the tank.

My stand is made of 4x4 legs and 2x4 bracing on the bottom, with 2x6's on the top, and 2x4 cross bracing every foot, all attached with 3" lagbolts (no I didn;t make this) Massive overkill, but that thing will probably last longer than my car.

Having somebody build you a stand is going to cost you more than your tank did. :ssmile:

Hope your floor under that stand is just as strong... thumbs2:
