I was in Petco today and there was a tank full of black moores and red and white sarasa comets... then I noticed that one of the comets had bugged out eyes just like a black moore! I've never seen anything like that, is it a new strain or just a fluke? I have no idea what to search for on Google

They could be a fluke cross between blackmoores and comets, but I do believe I've seen them referred to in a book as "Frog-eyes" and thus an intentionally bred breed. Didn't have any luck w/ google myself.

Cute fish. I personally love more streamlined goldfish who have bug-eyes.

It could be intentionally, but personally I think there's a greater chance it's just a fluke. Most LFS stores I've ever been in (that also raise their own fry) just have all the goldfish in the same tank. Not to mention many aquarists, myself included, keeps different breeds together. Unintentional breeding between breeds happens incredibly often.
