Guppy does not like Sunset Platy

Hello!

My girlfriend has a 20 gallon tank that for about a month has housed only 1 male guppy and a plecostomus. We went to Petco today and purchased 5 leopard danios and 3 sunset platys. After introducing them to the aquarium, the male guppy is chasing and nipping the platys. We seperated him for now until we figure out what to do.

Can guppies and platys not be together? If I add more male guppies, will he leave them alone?

Generally they are fine together. My first thought is that he is trying to breed with the platies.

Adding a couple females would help more, but you'd need a plan for the fry or a fish to eat them.

Well, the Dainos would probably keep at least some of the fry population down. The bigger worry I'd have in that scenario is what species of pleco is it, because a common is going to get waaaaaaaaaay too big for that tank.
