Yea, i know that we already planned to have an asian tank, but the more i look at it, the more boring the fish seem. Maybe i wont do a biotop because three of the fish on my original tank setup seemed forced (golden barbs, glass cats, and SAE)
At the petstore today, i decided ill have to live with these fish for years, so i better like them. So, i found the fish that i loved: Guppys, hatchetfish, gouramis, Bristlenosed cats, corys, German Blue Rams, cardinals, and Tiger barbs. Its a 46 gallon BF.
In the tank i already have 3 platies and 5 harlyquin rasboras.
So... Would the fish that i liked work?

You could do some of those, but not all of them together. Most are schooling fish that need groups of 6+. I would not mix tiger barbs with fancy guppies as the guppies are likely to have nipped up fins. Those would be the ones I'd leave out. For hatchets, make sure you have a tight fitting lid as they are jumpers.

So.. 3 guppys, 6 cardinals, one gourami, 6 dwarf corys, a ram, and a bristle cat sounds good?

cardinals and ram, cories and bristlenose may work.. I always thought GBRs needed a warmer temp of closer to 90.. if so you may want to do some research on these tank mates your planning.......

I think that would work. I'd also add another rasbora so there are 6 of them total. The bristle cat is a bristlenose pleco, right?

Never heard of GBR needing 90 degree temps, that sounds very extreme. Not sure where you got that information. I've heard 84-86, but I know many who successfully keep them at 80-82, some even a bit lower.

I think I heard "close to 90" ddon't remember where, just thought I'd make him aware they are often kept at warmer than usual temps

Water temperatures, parameters for GBRs are about the same as for Discus.

GBRs do better at 82-86F. I keep mine at 84F so far so good.
