okay for the past while now i've been trying to introduce veggies into my fish's diet. but they seem to not realize that the veggies are food. how do i get them to realize this?

I have the same problem with a pleco I was given.
I have tried cucumber, romaine lettuce,spinach,cantelope...I struck out every time.
I just drop sinking pellets in after dark and they are gone in the morning.
What kind of fish?

You could try foods that contain Spirulina in them. What veggies have you been trying? I use zuchini and peas mainly, just microwave them in a bowl of water for a minute and all my fish are willing to at least nibble on them...

Keep trying. Drop a small piece of zucchini in the tank twice a week at lights out time. Make sure it sinks. Remove it whether it's eaten or not in the morning. He'll eventually find it and realize it's food.

I just take a couple slices of cucumber weighted down with a twist tie and a rock. In the morning, theres just circular pieces of skin. I dont even blanch them

I just found something cool at the local fish store down the road. A bit more expensive so I only go there for emergencies when I'm out of something critical.
But I digress...
They have sheets of algae there. So I asked - does it float in the water or do you crush it or what (it looks like sushi wrap).
"No... there's this clip, you see... and it has a suction cup so you can suction it to the glass in the tank."
Have you ever heard of such a thing? I thought - hey - one could do that with lettuce or cucumbers too.
I didn't get it though. Thought about it.

I tried the algae sheets with my mbuna, but they disintegrate very quickly and make a total mess in the tank. I ended up throwing mine out since it was such a mess. The clips are very convenient for lettuce and zucchini slices.
I think everyone loves peas! Giv'm a shot!
