Re-decorated my tank for practicality, as opposed to pleasing to my own eye. In this tank resides Kiwi, my pride and joy, a 3-Spot Gourami of the gold variation, and six peppered cories. The numbers co-relate with the numbers on the photo below.
Opinions, comments, and hate all welcome. :hmm3grin2orange:
1.) This is actually a DIY project. I pulled everything out of a broken down filter I had - motor, wires, pad holders, and so forth - until all I had was the empty plastic shell. One of the three plants you see above the #1 is actually threaded through and around the remains of the filter box. This makes a darker, quieter place for sleeping in which all my cories can fit comfortably during the day.
2.) Behind those plants shown by #2 is a hollowed out spot that gets almost no light. It is intended to offer a spot for my Gourami to nap.
3.) This is merely a collection of disembled plastic plants arranged over 1/2 of the tank as Gouramis seem to enjoy floating plants, ime. (And yes, they're all plastic. The only living thing I've been able to put in with Kiwi has been the cories. This hate for living things even extends to real plants.)
4.) Another cave, this one just a piece of slate leaned up against the filter box from #1. From the slate cave, behind the plant to the left of that, and all through that cheap decorative cave is a hallway, of sorts. It has many holes and gaps, allowing for stimulation for the cories.
5.) All the space from the far left side of the tank to the plant by #1 is wide open swimming space for Kiwi, which is well needed now as she is almost full-grown now.
Every spot in the tank except for one has been re-arranged so that Kiwi get in and turn-around or go right through. That one spot she cannot get into is a refuge of sorts for the cories, as Kiwi does have her moody days.
I think, at the moment, it is designed to be the absolute most practical set-up I can accomplish without spending anymore money. Anyone else's opinion on this?
Thanks for taking a look. :22:
