go there to get a breeder net for my frontosa fry and the guy who knows me well says "I got something you'll love!".. I take a look and he's got one white/yellow alto. compressiceps. Good size too, little over 2.5". So he says he wants $30 for it and I just laugh. No way I can take that fish... so then he tells me *my price* is $20. So I laugh again and say "a $20 feeder? still too much".. he says "he won't get eaten, if he does, I'll give you $10 store credit"... next thing you know, he's bagging it up and I'm taking it home.

So now I get home and he seems too big for my fry/black calvus tank, but too small for my 190. So instead of letting this fish eat all my fry, I drop him into the 190 with the big guys. He is doing very well and has found many crevices to hide in. Does not seem shy, but stays in the lower levels in the tank. Doesn't seem to mind the much bigger fronts either. Wish me luck!! No pic yet, but he looks just like this one... I've always wanted calvus/comps with my fronts and my blacks are growing sooooo slooooow...

He should do fine even with the monster fish you have, i have a small calvus similar to the pic you put up, he is only about 1.75". No one messes with him. He knows how to hide very well, he has a small shell he lives in.:hmm3grin2orange:

He's doing great and very socialable. Does not mind the bigger fish at all. He seems to always be out and curious.

Gotta love a good deal, I commend you for breaking down and shelling out the bucks lol!

That's the thing about Calvus, they take a while to grow out.. but its one of those fish that's totally worth it!

Yeah, clown loaches also fall into that category. Been growing mine for a few years now.
