Worth it?

Ive been contemplating bumping up the lighting on my 55G for some time now...been considering a 108watt 6500K Fishneedit T5. My current lighting on that tank is a triple bulb T8 fixture which is 96watts. Anyone think that the extra 12watts is worth the upgrade? Reason I was considering it is that in some of my denser planted areas the stems are prone to get leggy, and T5s penetrate the water deeper than do the T8s...I would probably also move a spare 4ft single bulb T8 strip to the tank for a mid-day burst for a couple of hours.

I think you should - might be a bit more algae though IMO.
T5's penetrate much farther then the T8's.
