that bettas got some cool funky fins!
Thanks! He's a crown-tail...he's just gorgeous when he flairs!
One of my 3 female bettas died last week...no symptoms...other fish and water quality fine...
Tomorrow is fish day at the LFS...I'll see if they get any more females in...hope adding just one won't upset the vibes in the tank...tempted to try some ghost shrimp too...since everyone is raving about them!
Here are a couple more pics...since I'm practicing...

Aw I love the colouring on yoyr Dachshund!! And your American Bulldog is gorgeous (always been partial to them since watching Homeward Bound hahaha yes now I feel old haha)
Edit: Oh silly me! I forgot to comment on the bettas! They're lovely! Last night I was struck with the idea of getting myself a siamese fighter (even though the idea of them being kept alone saddens me) so I'm researching quite a bit now on these guys (guess who's hanging out in the Betta section on this website haha)
Thanks! The dogs are both a year old...the dachsie we purchased as a puppy from the US...the AB was a shelter dog from up North...we're still wondering what her story was...they're both lovely dogs...
Get your betta! They're very engaging...
I found a turquoise blue female yesterday...the shipment had just come in so I'll leave her in the medicated water another day just to make sure she doesn't develop fungus...
...hopefully she adjust to 'community' living as well as the others have!!!
...btw...I've had 3 rats as pets...
...the first was a lab rat I 'rescued' as a baby...he was wonderful!
...after him I got two hooded rats...they were also great, but not quite as personable as my first boy...
...sadly, I developed rather serious allergies to them...so no more rats for me...but they are the best rodent pet...hands down!

Haha rats are the best!! And Bless you for rescuing a labrat!! I always recommend (very strongly, I might add haha) that they be kept in pairs or more (obv same sex groups), cos they are sociable creatures unlike hamsters. But yea! I agree, best rodent pet, hands down!! :19:

wow ur house is a ZOO!!! I wish I could do tht to mine lol but the landlord here wont allow me to have cats or dogs and hes probably gonna be pissed off when he sees my 40G.... I love cats.....
It is a zoo! Much to the chagrin of my 17 year old son...the other two kids don't mind...and hubby tolerates it...
So far, I don't have more than I can manage...that's the key I believe...

Love your betta!! :malelovies:
Bettas are nice fish, unfortunately for me, I've never been able to keep them with other fish. The first male I had was in a 10g with some neons. When I caught him trying to kill one of the neons, they were moved out. A couple of years later got another betta. This one I put in an already established 55g heavily planted tank. This betta tried to kill off some black skirt tetras so I ended up moving him to his own 5g. The betta I have now, I tried to have in a 30g with two large angels and a couple of cories. When I caught him (Pie) and the large male angel fighting, I had to move Pie to his own tank too. (The betta was losing to the angel but he sure wasn't backing down!)
I should probably try some female bettas but I just love the males, especially the crowntails!! Do you have any pics of your females?
BTW, my son had two rats as pets. Originally they were to be fed to his ball pythons. The snakes had been eating mice but it was time to switch them over to rats so we got 4 baby rats. They had fur but their eyes were still closed. Anyway we brought them home and my son just couldn't do it! Couldn't feed them to the snakes!! He decided right then to sell the snakes and keep the rats! LOL!! I had to hand feed them human baby formula (soy type). They were so adorable. We ended up giving the 2 boys to the SPCA and my son kept the girls. He named them Bubbles and Squeak! The two most opposite personalities you ever saw! Bubbles was so laid back and Squeak was rather hyperactive. He had them for many years......lovely animals. :malelovies:
Thanks! I should try and get pics of the girls...if I don't forget, I'll try at feeding time...
Glad you gave rats a good home...and a good English name!
I've never fed live food to my snake...she's on frozen mice...but I'm thinking I'll have to move her up to frozen rats soon...apparently they're more nutritious...but I'll have to look into that...

YAY rats win again!!!!!
I just want to point out, not sure how it is in other countries, but feeding live prey to an animal here in SA is illegal and goes against the animal protection act (ie placing an animal in danger of attack under any circumstances) :)
I like snakes, dont get me wrong, but I just dont have the balls to kill the baby rats before feeding time....if I ever got a snake, it would be an egg eater hehe
Sorry, guess I've gone OT here *blush* Enough out of me, sitting here in the Peanut Gallery haha!
