View Full Version : Guppy problem still...

I'm still having a problem with my orange guppies.
The one that I said was being chased is clinging to the top of the tank, and his tail is pretty shredded..
I'm going to remove him from the tank--he's the ONLY one that the dominant guppy is being aggressive to, and I think it may be because they're identical fish.
Should I put him in my tank at home and treat with melafix? Or bring him back to petco...?

I've put him in a tupperware bowl with clean water. Hopefully that'll help until I figure out what to do with him...

I am sorry. If you like him and he was not to badly hurt I would bring him home. He can be your first fish.

You got any oscars that need company? lol
This worked for me once... I took the dominant one out for a couple days and then re-added him to the tank. They seemed to get along after that.

Those are the best pictures I could get. Do you think treating with melafix is best? Should I not add any fish today then, and just get him in there after my water change?

Uh oh... I don't think petco carries melafix! I think they only carry pimafix...

Unless your local Petco is out, they do carry melafix, Lo.
I think clean water in a tank with fewer stressors is the best treatment right now.

Okay good. I have 3 petcos by me.
Their website doesn't have it lol so I got worried.
I took a video of the fish... he seems to be struggling the poor thing...

I'd put him in your other tank. If you can't find melafix it's not a big deal, clean water will help him heal up the fastest. It doesn't look bad at all, from what I can tell.

Omg when I was at petco... I saw that they got a new shipment of guppies in. THEY WERE GORGEOUS.
It was so hard not to buy a bunch of them right then and there... but I know I have to wait until I treat this poor little guy for his fin.
I got some melafix...and when I got home, found out that my python is too short by TWO FEET. TWO. FEET.
*sigh*
now I have to drain the water one gallon at a time. I'll be working on getting the tank up and running again for the next few hours.
I managed to get it half drained so far...

Well you could do it twice as fast with a 2 gallon bucket. :14: That's what I use.

D: I don't have any buckets actually. I have a cup and a tupperware bowl. I left my buckets at the office u_u

Heh...
think I can get away with an 75-80% water change instead of a 90-100% change...? D: It's getting really hard to scoop out water...

Yes. I think 75% is fine.

xD Yaay I'm done draining then!
Now to clean off that nasty algae and rinse out one of my filters.
I'll have to turn down my air pump and filters probably. I think the current might be too much for my poor little guppy!
(Aww, no one's in the chatroom!)
