I am new to fish diseases, and sympathetic as I have recently lost two gouramis to a fungal infection of the mouth.
My best Guess would be that your fish has a parasite.
Could it be flukes.
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/information/Diseases.htm#Flukes
Symptoms: The fish scrapes itself against objects, rapid gill movement, mucus covering the gills or body, the gills or fins may be eaten away, the skin may become reddened.
There are many species of flukes, which are flatworms about 1 mm long, and several symptoms that are visible. They infest gills and skin much like ich, but the difference can be seen with a hand lens. You should be able to see movement and possibly eye spots, which is not found in ich. Gill flukes will eventually destroy the gills thus killing the fish. Symptoms of a heavy infestations are pale fish with drooping fins, rapid respiration, glancing off aquarium decor, and /or hollow bellies.
Treatment can best be done with a 10 to 30 minute bath in 10 mg per liter of potassium permanganate. Or treat the whole tank with 2 mg per liter, but this method is messy and dyes the water.
It might be gill worms as well.

holy moley......those nitrates are killing him. Nitrates should not be allowed to go over 20 with 10 preferred. How long since you cleaned the tank and did a water change? You need to do a big water change to reduce those right away.

This will tell you about nitrate poisoning.

ohhhh!!!
I didnt think nitrates were THT BAD....
I do 25% water changes every 2 weeks and I remove all the stuff from the tank and vacuum the gravel.... I will strat doing 25% everyweek now
tomorrow I will do one 25% water change then friday another one then everyweek 25%... tht should keep my nitrates low I hope....
I already got 2 friends for the cory tht was going to be alone they are already together and they seem to be doing well....
I also bought some GUPPY FRY as feeder fish but none of my fish were able to get them so soon I will have some adult guppys in my tank cause they are very good at hiding I think they might make it....

but hobbs I think ur right about the NITRATES causing my fish to be weak and get sick and not recover but could tht be contagious and stay on my tank or something like tht? I knw its a desease I knw it wasnt the nitrates ALONE tht killed it I m sure it was some kind of parasite or something like tht.....
I did notice a white film on my glass about 3 days ago and I cleaned it with one of those magnetic cleaning things.... maybe the parasite were in the glass? and when I scrapped it got my cory because it was stressed because of the high nitrates level?

Parasites/bacteria is always present in the tank. Fish normally fight them off easily, but if weakened by high nitrates, they can easily succumb. 80 is pretty darn high, but I think anything below 30 is fine. The ideal is 0 of course, but you have to be realistic. What's your water change schedule btw? You should be doing like 50-75% water changes at least every other week.

Everything I have read and done about NITRATES states that 40 or below is normal for freshwater tanks. I usually do my water changes at 30ish or every two weeks. My understanding is that NITRITES are much more dangerous and should not be above 0.

You are correct. Nitrates should be as low as possible, though, since higher concentrations will pose some long term problems, but generally, 20-30 is fine.

yea I just did a 25% change and will do another one saturday and then start to do it everyweek instead of everyother week....
I also made some changes on my tank I will post a video later....
the new corydoras I got yesterday are doing just fine with the one I had already
the 10 guppy fry I got as feeder got all eaten... I didnt expect they would all get eaten I tought they were hiding but today I took everything out my tank and vacuumed the gravel and didnt find the fry and I checked the water buckets to see if they didnt get sucked into a bucket but no.... I only have one survivor...the bigger one.....which dissapeared too... its hiding somewhere

I find that I have a little better numbers with my water if I only clean half the gravel at at time. (I suck the junk off the whole surface and really go to town on 1 side of the tank one week and the other half the next) I think cleaning all of the gravel reduces my bacteria too much.

Most of the bacteria should be in your filter. As long as you don't vacuum the gravel and change the filter cartridge at the same time, you should be fine.
