for some reason only some of my hornwort floats and the rest suspends in the middle of the tank. it is all connected i dont know why only some of it would float. If anyone could please help me with this it would be greatly appriciated.

Hornwort can root...so either that portion of it has a tendency to want to root...or otherwise maybe it's heavier? Intertwined?

If you don't like it, toss that bit out...

agreed, and sometimes it just grows down. I personally like floating it, great for guppy babies, they love to eat it too.

dont let it get too thick though. have had fish get tangled in it before due to me carelessly throwing in a glob of it without spreading it around the tank.

I have never had hornswort root!
It doesn't do well under water either. It turns brown after a while.

Also can take on a brownish color if it is in a high flow area, usually just fish poo covering it.

Makes a great mech/bio filter in my pond.

or did anyway.....

here is what hornwort looks like when it is "planted"

Never seen it root but it will stay in the substrate once you jam it into it.
Grows like wildfire like this as well, easily 3-4" a week.

And with lots of it, you get a neat forest effect.

Lots of pruning required though with that much of it.
