That is a nice looking tank. I really like the rock formation on the right hand side of the picture.

Very, very nice. I'd like to see it entered in the TOTM for April contest.

Love the gravel colors.

It's a ten gallon, and the background is actually black construction paper. The tiger barbs are not the only fish in the tank though there is a red tailed shark and a cory cat. I know how big they will all get etc. They're getting moved in a couple of months, this tank is temporary for them and will become my quarantine tank.

I would prefer live plants as well but I know absolutely nothing about them and fake plants were a cheap solution to the need for hiding places, hehe. Thanks for the comments!

Do you remember what the name of your stone was called. I like it a lot. Haven't seen any in those colors so wondered if it come like that or you did a mix yourself? Sometimes plastic is necessary depending on what type of fish is in the tank. I have silver dollars and loaches and both eat plants so always end up working around them.

Honestly I can't remember the name of the gravel, I think it might have come with my 20 gallon kit. I can't remember though:14: Sorry

Edit: I think we did mix it actually, but I can't remember from what.

as you know already, i wont go on about the red tailed shark growing big and aggressive, but just checking, you know that cories need to be in groups right? 3+ is usally advised.ten gallon i would have said is too small for tiger barbs, but as they are moving out, it will do.sorry i didnt realise the background. im use to pictures as backgrounds, but looking at the tank again, the black background looks ok (at first i thought it was just the wall or something)
real plants are easy to grow really, everyone makes a fuss about them being hard to look after, but its less hardy then keeping the fish. just buy some plants you like and plant them. some plants wont be planted (like java fern) but reading up a little about plants helps. java moss, java fern and moss balls are pip easy to look after, mostly add to tank and leave. simple. but the fake plant cover must work as theres no sign of the shark or cory anywhere in the pic (not from what i can see)
but all in all, good mate.
i was only giving my opinions and concerners for the fish, hope you understand.
good luck with the bigger tank.

Nice tank for a 10g!

I prefer 'real' plants too...but even in the 55g I'm cycling for the goldfish...I went plastic...not much choice...

Hey don't worry about it, I understand your concerns! I've kept epalzeorynchos bicolor before which is one reason my tank has so many obstacles in it. Until I can move them all into a 30 gallon I figured if I cut off the line of sight and give him as much hiding spots as possible I can curb the agression. On top of that the tiger barbs can take it.

I do frequent water changes and have pretty good filtration in the tank, the fish are happy there for now.

I'm also aware of the cory needing a group, but I'm not too worried about it at the moment. He is very active and is growing quite rapidly. Oh and if you look really hard you can see both the shark and the cory! Hehe, the shark is behind the tiger barbs and the cory is to the right of the cave. But you can just see his tail. Anyways, thanks for the comments!

Nice job, I actually like the plain backgrounds, they highlight the work put into the tank.
