I've been using my iPod to surf the web while I'm on the train to my new job (free wifi on the train is nice). On mobile devices though it's hard to surf the AC.
I know that making a second 'mobile' version of a website can be a lot of work but would this be helpful to anyone else?

that's surprising nic my I phone is fairly fast have you tried a private wifi to see if it was just ur connection.
But anyway yea I think a mobile site would be a good idea for others that have phones and other devices that it's hard to veiw HTML

I just view the site over the internet on my phone and it's not a problem.

It's probably like my Palm T/X, the browser's just not sophisticated enough to handle standard HTML. I'd love a Mobile version of AC!

It's not a problem per-say. It's just that when viewing the page on the iPod Touch the text is just super small by default causing a lot of zooming in and out which gets a little tedious after a while.
From my experience most mobile sites are also stripped down to the bare essentials to make them load faster on smaller devices.

I have browsed AC on my iPhone in landscape mod before.
It was not too bad.
An AC app would be awesome though, I would get it.
It would be a big convenience.

I dont have a fancy phone so my AC is all scrunched and useless to me.

Yeah I'm writing this from my Touch now. It's not too bad once you get into a thread but the text on the main widows is a bit hard to read at the default size. Not a huge deal overall.
I would also totally grab an AC app if someone made one.

Might be a good feature but I have no idea how to make one.

I've actually been looking around regarding this issue for another forum I'm helping a friend put up.
With vBulletin you can download skins/themes that are designed for mobile use. They you make a link to goto that theme I think. There is also a more complicated way to setup the page to auto detect if it's a mobile device but I'm not sure how to set that up yet.

The auto detect is easy if your friend usees the latest VB and a great app is being developed for the latest version.
The problem is that we are running an older version. We could update but that would mean loosing some popular features so I am hesitant to do that.
The ONLY problem that I have (that I'm aware of) is that I can't access the gifts. Everything else is fine, but then, I'm using a high end phone (T-mobile G1).
I tried a wifi the other day at a coffee place, it was WAY slower than the phone's 3G system.
