Any idea what caused it?
Its probably a bacterial bloom.
Water changes always help.

How is the tank stocked?
Yes get another filter soon. They say the xp3 is rated for 160gals. but I say 75!lol I don't have any troubles with my tank and it has the xp3 and ac110.
Thats a 135 with two oscars and a pleco.
How much water are you changing and how often?
I do about 50% every 4-5 days.

Step up your water changes.Try and do them more often until you get the other filter.Your water should clear up.
