Lost a black finned cory today. I was just shocked to see him curled up in a hole in the wood. His eyes were closed, but he was gone. I watch the aquarium a lot so it had to be recent. Must have gone after some morsel there and got caught. It isn't even that small a space. Always sad to lose a fish.

I'm very sorry to hear that lahlumdi :scry:

He may also have gone in there to die....fish do seem to get stuck a lot in aquarium decor though. It could have been many things, we just never know sometimes UGG!

Sorry about your cory!
Can you stick a rock or something in that hole so it doesn't happen again?

Yeah, I've been thinking about that. Like I say, it wasn't that small a hole. He was like a little dog curled up. Almost like little embers said - he may have gone there just to die.

Sorry for the loss. I would plug the hole too.

Today I put my tank loose gravel into the hole. At least this is a temporary stopgap. We'll see if that remains in place or not. From stuff I have read, I am hestitant to take a rock from outside and plug it in there. Apparently that can sometimes unwittingly dump minerals you don't want into the aquarium?
