:help: my large angel had some red on him and i didnt know what it was. the best way i could discribe were it was is kinda like his finpit (armpit) it was really red and i noticed that it was also a touch red right at the base of were those two fin things that hang from the bottom of him. after only a day or two it cleared up and there is no more red but does anyone know what it was should i be worried. :help:

that is hemorrhagic septicemia, which is a symptom of either a bacterial infection, or as it was in a widespread case that affected many angelfish breeders recently, a nasty viral infection.
i know breeders that lost several fish to this and i have pictures of my own fish and my local breeders fish all infected, all showing the same exact physical signs and behavior.
the first time it hit my tank 1 of my 2 angels died. i learned how to deal with it from my local breeder, so the second time the outbreak hit (new angels), i lost 0 fish. what my local breeder and i began to do was to raise the temperature to 88-90F and keep it there for the duration of the symptoms. within about 6-8 days the fish progressed into worse and then into better and then cleared up.
if what your fish has is this viral infection, and it already cleared up, it will not get it again...however if its a different issue, such as a different bacterial infection, then you may need to seek out help.

post pictures and keep a close eye on the fish. look at the muscle of the pectoral fins, the mouth area, and the base of the dorsal and anal fins. any unusual areas of red are to be concerned about.

water paramiters are normal. amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate under 10ppm. trojan it wasnt all over him just but it did look like that by the fins but just alot red'er. i tryed to get pics but my phone just couldnt get clear pix and its already gone
