Has anyone out there got any tips on keeping happy Plecos. Our Bristlenose is doing fine and seems to be very happy but our Butterfly Pleco died last week and last night our Leopard Sailfin Pleco died. Any tips, hints or advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to kill anymore of them.

The butterfly pleco could have been a hillstream loach, in which case it is a cold water fish that requres current and pristine water.

Don't know anything about sailfin plecos.

Only tip I have is to research and get the smallest (species) one you can, cause they create a lot of waste.

Cheers, He was definately a butterfly but both were quite large. The Basil (Bristlenose) is relatively small compared to the others.. Might try some Peppermints. Anyone know about Zebra Plecos or Vampire Plecos we are thinking of getting a couple of those.

Plecos need a well established tank and I always recommend driftwood.

As Crispy said and I'll add staying on top of tank maintenance.

What size of tank do you have?

Welcome to the Fabulous AC!
How long has the tank been established?
Is it cycled?
What are your perameters?
Got any pics you can post?
