I ve got a firebelly toad and a green treefrog.....
I love them already LOL... but I will have to give the tree frog to a friend cause it makes tooooooooo much noise lol its always croaking... at an amphibian forum they told me tht its normal and its a good sign but I CANT TAKE IT lol
does any of u have firebelly toads or green tree frogs?
I m gonna give the tree frog to a friend and get another firebelly
i had the ideia of putting the firebelly in my 40g tropical fish tank... the conditions are the same I would just lower the water level so I could put an floating island for the firebelly but I found out its slightly poisonous and it could harm my fish....

yea that croaking thing would spell disaster for that poor frog. my wife has always wanted a frog. i told her she could have it and i wouldn't mess with it. funny, i haven't heard anything about a frog since.

Cocoa has a firebelly.
I wouldnt mix them with fish. The need alot of land to be on too.

I have 3 firebelly toads, 2 female one male.
When they want to breed, they make that loud sound that drives me nuts. They constantly make that sound.
The toads would probably eat some fish in the 40g
Be sure you have some land for the toad to run on. They can get arthritis when theyre old if they dont have land to run on

yea I knw I was going to get a thing I have for reptiles... it floats and its about more than half of a ten gallon tank in size.... tht would be the island for it but I gave up with the idea because they are slightly poisonous and they can kill some species of fish or get them ill so I dnt wanna risk.. I will just keep it in the ten gallon.... the tree frog is the one making all the noise but I will be giving it to a friend probably because anyways I cnt have the tree frog with the firebelly...

the toad should have a 75% land and 25% water tank

I grew up in south Louisiana, so those green treefrogs are everywhere. Sometimes the combination of them and the crickets at night when you go outside was nice, but I don't know if I'd be able to handle that noise while I'm trying to sleep in the house. Also, boys use to throw the green frogs in my hair when I was little, so I'm kind of afraid of them now.

lol...
I loved them I always leave mine loose for some time everyday to explore the house hahaha it sticks to everything.... one time it jumped on the aquarium glass and the fish were like OOOOOHHH WHATS THT?? hahahaha looking at the frog... I just cant take the noise
cocoa: I have the toad on my 10g and its like more then 50% water on the tank because I still havent decided on a substrate to use.. I will probably get some round smoth gravel because its cleaner than moss.... anyways .... the tree frog is always hanging on something I never see it on the water (maybe because its nocturnal so it does its stuff at night LOL) but the toad no matter what hes always in the water...... after I get the gravel I will probably do 50% 50% and put like a small floating island over the water part on my tank I will post pics....
thts if I keep them because I really cant stand the noise it creeps me out and the tree frog just started with it AGAIN!!!!! hahahah

use about mini gumball sized gravel. It prevents them from eating it. They sometimes eat smaller gravel.
50% land and 50% water is good too. When you have 75% water and 25% land, arthritis strikes. I personally dont use any substrate. I have the water up to their necks. That way, theyre in water, but they can run. Mine have those suction cup plants and driftwood.
you can handle firebellies, just wash your hands after. They give out a poison from their stomach when you hold them, and its only harmful if you stick your hand in your mouth after. I handle mine all the time.
Use a lid too. I lost 2 in my basement and theyre dead somewhere since 2 years ago when i got my first one they said the toads cant jump out of a 10g. (they can easily jump it)
One more thing, they dont need a heater. They can handle room temp. Use heaters when theyre in a 20g or larger tank

yea I knw... I m thinking about getting another one cause I really liked it... the gravel I will get is big enough so they wont eat it and it has no sharp edges so it will be fine... I want to just do a HILL with the gravel one side of the tank lower than the other and fill it up with water give it like 2 to 3 inches of water and half the tank dry with some plants and rocks....
now I have a big rock a small one and a NET like those reptile nets tht attach to the glass with suction cups... I have about 2 inches of water for now the temperature is just fine its around 72f 73f sometimes it falls a little to about 70 so I just turn a heating lamp tht I have on for some time like about 1 foot away from the tank so I wont heat it up too much.....
what do u feed it and how often u feed it?
I m feeding only crickets for now everyother day but they are not eating much they eat like 1 or 2 crickets only is tht normal? the people at the pet shop told me tht they feed twice a week... I think thts not enough and I read tht people feed them everyday thts why I am feeding everyother day....
is there anything else I can give it to vary the diet a little?
wow I was thinking... this is funny..... I m asking about my toads and frogs on an FISH AQUARIUM FORUM LOL hahhahahaha

mine get 2 crickets each every other day, so like i feed them monday, Wednesday, friday, sunday, etc.
You asking about toads in a tank isnt as bad as me one time. I once almost put in a fullgrown 6 inch firebelly newt in my 33g

people at a reptile and amphibian forum told me I couldnt because the firebelly is slightly poisonous and it could get my fish ill or kill them but my intentions at the beggining when I got the toad was to lower the water level about 10 inches and create a big floating island on my 40g so I could have it on my fish tank I think tht would be really cool but I m kind of scared now....
