I am going to be using the "solid" kind of bioballs for my DIY wet/dry, and I will have a mechanical filter (cotton lol) in my drip tray to remove particles from entering the bioballs chamber, my question is, will I need to replace the bioballs on a regular basis, .. or just clean them..? or let them be.

They should never need replaced, a rinse once in a while may be needed, depending how dirty they get.

Thanks, do you think the pillow fluff stuff in the drip tray will be enough of a mechanical filter?

I guess time will tell. You may need a course sponge or a prefilter.
