I wouldn't do more that 7 tiger barbs reguardless if you can get a crayfish or not, and I wouldn't get any more males. You'll need to look for aggression cues that might pop up down the road as the fish mature. If you find most of your fish hiding in corners, behind the thermometer, heater and filter, you're in trouble.

A quick google search told me that the red fortune lobster is your local crayfish. Couldn't find anymore info.

Congrats on your new fish!!!

For the lobster (or a crayfish), won't that kind of creature try and eat the fish?

Sounds like its just a crawfish based on the above post. I've had lots of cray fish and they DO catch and eat fish. Inless you're housing lake fish like bluegills or bass or catfish (big ones) I wouldn't put a crawfish with any tropical fish.....

Larger cichlids really enjoy crayfish!lol
They are like a delicacy to Oscars!:hmm3grin2orange: Mmmmmm!
It will kill a tb if it catches one.
I wish I would have had an empty ten when the water was a wee bit warmer.
Trying to catch a crayfish in 33* water is no fun!lol

When I used to live in Colorado, I'd break through the ice and catch them LOL and yes it was cold!

Never thought about putting them in with my cichlids! LOL

A crayfish wouldn't last the night with a sunny, bass or catfish. Tropicals are the only fish that won't eat them.
