I'm in need of a heater for a 2 gallon tank that has temp control. All the ones I've found didn't have any temperature control and I'm just not comfortable with that. Any suggestions on what to buy?

.....a 25 watt? I don't think they make them smaller than that with a dial.

I use the small Tetra ones from Wal-Mart with no temp control and they work great, I couldn't find ones with a dial that small either. I'm running three of them, I have two 2.5 gallons and a 4.5 gallon. I was skeptical but I've got no complaints about them! They have a light that changes from green to red to let you know when it's on, I like that feature.

I also use two little 7.5w ones w/o a temperature setting, one in each of my little 2.5g betta aquariums. Though I cannot adjust the temperature, I do like them and the fish are doing well. They are Hydor brand. I have the bigger 15w one in a 6g tank and like that one, too.

I use a 25w Visi-therm for me 3 gallon. Works great. I have an issue with non-adjustable heaters too. I've heard so many different things about them (good and bad) that I decided it just wasn't worth the risk. Being a bit of a control freak, it always just annoyed me that I couldn't adjust the temp. lol

The Hydor flat heaters have no temp control or thermostat, they just heat the water ALL the time, raising it a few degrees above room temp. The Tetra heater mentioned above is not adjustable but it DOES have a thermostat. It's set to 78F and stays there. I have four of them and they work like a charm! They're 50W and powerful enough for a 10G tank but work great in small tanks as they're only a little over 5" in length. They have a RED LED that indicates heating and a GREEN LED that indicates that the water is at temp. They may not be adjustable but they're hella nice. Being that they're 50Watts they're capable of keeping a small tank at 78F even if the room is quite cool/cold.

Most heaters just have an analog knob that you have to play with to the the water temp where you want it. I've seen a few models which have a digital read out but they tend not to be very accurate, usually -/+ 5 degrees or so.

Thanks for the feedback. I was nervous about using a heater with no adjust-ability on a small tank like that. But I bought one anyways. It will do until I get the 20 gallon ready for my betta Prometheus.
