I might be picking up a 55ish gallon tank tomorrow, with all the supplies minus stand for $20. I was originall going to get a 20g but found this one for the same price. My original plan was to get only 1 betta, and transfer some plants from my 72.

Is it a bad idea to put a single betta in a tank this big?

Would I ever be able to add other fish to the tank over time, or just bottom feeders and such?

That is an awesome find -- way to go thumbs2:

We have 6 bettas and 4 of them are in separate community tanks with other fish (like platies, sword tails, corys, and zebra danios). They do VERY well in community tanks in my experience. Be sure not to add any of the notorious fin nippers, like tiger barbs.

Congrats, that's a great deal! Sure you can put a lone betta in a tank that size, you can always move him later, then reintroduce with new fish.

Just looked at the tank, it would have been nice, but the inside of the glass is scratched up pretty badly. I think I might just go for the 20g instead now.
Thanks for the suggestions too.
