They are very striking. How large a fish are they?

Rue, That Calvus is almost 4" and it will max out around 6" so still a bit to go,
and man do they grow slow, lol

I think it's the finnage, especially the way they extend the dorsal fin
it sure does make them look a lot bigger.

4" is a good size considering how slow they grow,
not a fish for impatient fish keepers, lol


Sarkazmo, they are not that aggressive but they are amazing preditors,
watching they stalk then attack small fry is a sight to behold.

Beauts Mike, Calvus are for the long term die hard swimmer lovers. IMO who cares how slow they grow, they are the most amazing. Luv'em.

You arent kiddn i have had a gold head calvus for over a year in my 220 and he has not grown 1/16". probably the slowest grower to the cichlid family, but they are so freekn cool lookn!!:hmm3grin2orange:
