I just bought a 1997 Cadillac STS for $1500 from a friend. I could easily resell it for $5000. I won't be picking it up till tomorrow though because I gouldn't make it to the DMV before they closed. It has some crazy spinning rims which I plan on taking off immediately and reselling. The rims supposedly cost $4000 new. The engine sounds great and the body is in good shape, no rust or dents. thumbs2:thumbs2:thumbs2:

Cadillacs are AWESOME cars!!!
My dad's had them for decades (currently 2 escalades), and this is my very favorite caddy ever... Not what most people think of when they think of the brand, but it was an awesome car, as are all caddys! Sadly, though you know I looked good in it (ha ha ha), it wasn't mine. It was my dad's but my mom and I sweated him too much (safety, too small a car) and he eventually traded it in. I didn't mind playing with it some afternoons, though! It had heads up display, off the line like a ROCKET, air conditioned seats, ETC... and turned everyone's head!
Congratulations on your new ride!!!

One more thing about this brand of car, if you maintain them, they will run like a top for SO many miles. My dad had a deville (think that's what it was) that needed a new transmission at about 150k, which he got a reconditioned one for, then what finally "killed" that car was totalling it hitting a deer and I think at that time, it was at around 250k! They are SUCH good cars!!!

Awesome buy. Those northstars are great motors. Defiantly get rid of those spinners, I bet they look terrible on a cadi. Actually they look terrible on anything, lol
Hope your friend isn't ticked off if you make money off the car and he feels ripped off...
Just a thought...

He was selling it for that price whether I bought it or anyone else. He knows the value, he just wants to get rid of the car. I take offense to the accusation that I am ripping off my friend. If you knew me, then you would know I would never do that. And as far as my friend goes, he is happy that a good friend of his is benefiting from this instead of a stranger. Not everyone in the world has that shallow of a mentality.
There was no accusation. Don't read between the lines. I've seen friendships go downhill over much less...

Oh, I don't think Rue meant anything like the way you took it.
I've seen friendships really go down hill over someone buying a horse from one then selling it for more to another MANY times.
I think Rue was just giving you a heads up over what can sometimes happen, and not at all meaning you took advantage of anyone.

I understand. Not to worry, out friendship is very much intact and will remain so.
Anyway, here are a couple pictures of the car:

What are those, 20" rims? You can sell those for a bit, unless they the snap on walmart kind... :hmm3grin2orange:

Those rims look like gigantic hubcaps, that kinda defeats the purpose! Then again I'm the girl that went out of her way to put 25 year old super 80's styled rims on my '03 truck.... to each their own I guess.
Congrats on the Caddy - it's nice!!!
