Anyone see a really good movie lately? If so, please share the title!

H and I haven't been TO the movies in forever. I think the last movie we WENT to was Dawn of the Dead like in 2004 or whenever it was the remake came out! You know I'm dying to see Zombieland but probably will wait until it's on DVD (I actually like watching movies at home more).

But, we give the NetFlix account a good workout. We just watched the first 5 seasons of House this summer / fall and loved it. Not too many movies but last night...

We watched The Haunting In Connecticut, and it was GOOD and SCARY!!! I love horror movies (especially zombie ones), but they never scare me unless they're supposedly based on a true story. This one scared me but I loved it.

How about you all? Any current movie or DVD recommendations?

I liked both of Rob Zombie's Halloween movies. Went to the theater for the second one recently. Thirteen ghosts also has always been one of my fav horror flicks.

Ah! I'll need to look up Rob Zombie's halloween movies. I haven't seen anything / commercials for them so hadn't heard of them.

13 Ghosts was AWESOME!!!

PS "duh" I thought you meant scary movies (halloween movies). I'm so dumb -- I think I saw the first one and just put the 2nd one on Netflix "saved" que for when it's out!

The best movie i've seen recently is Trick r Treat. I'm not usually one for scary
movies but i seen this and have been trying to find another great-in-that-way
movie, no luck. My other favorite scary movie is Silent Hill. Good ones for the
halloween month.

Never been one for horror, so nothing to suggest there. If you're looking for variety, though...

There was a production of "Merchant of Venice" a few years ago that was very well done, and the recent "Phantom of the Opera" is also amazing -- if you like Shakespeare and opera. I've always loved old John Wayne westerns: "The Cowboys," "Rooster Cogburn and the Lady," "True Grit," etc. They're corny, but I used to watch them with my dad when I was a kid. "Finding Forrester" is one of my all-time favorites, not least because of Sean Connery. (Are you noticing a trend? I was born in the wrong generation. Forget Brad Pitt -- I always loved John Wayne and Sean Connery.) "National Velvet" is another good old classic (and a horse movie!) -- it stars Elizabeth Taylor when she's about 12 years old, and Mickey Rooney is pretty young too. "Seabiscuit" is another of my favorite horse movies. "Amistad" and "Amazing Grace" are both very good historically-based movies, but definitely sobering -- dealing with slavery. And, if you like classics and want a good, super long chick flick, I highly recommend the A&E version of "Pride and Prejudice." There's a more recent one with Kiera Knightley which is also good, but not as long so it obviously isn't as comprehensive.

J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" was very well done! Being a big Trek fan, I have a couple of nitpicks with it, but overall, excellent movie and the cast did a great job with their performances!

Sean of dead is a lot better if we are talking Brittish humor and monster/zoombies. Hot fuzz by the same people is even better but not monster related (allthough that is all old movies)

I dont know what to recommend that is new. Been disapoint by more or less everything this year. Startrek was decent with the same reservation as the post above.

Season 4 of Dexter started the end of September, we're on Episode 4 now. Its been great so far! Dexter is probably my alltime favorite series :22:

I was personally a bit disappointed with Zombie's halloween movies, *LOVED* the first one as a prequel...but after that it just didnt do much for me. Now on the other hand The Devils Rejects is just downright a badass movie. I picked up Zodiac in that $5 bin at walmart, pretty good movie especially for that price...its about the Zodiac killer. Umm, I also picked up this 7hour really low budget documentary on american serial killers....good watch, they mis-pronounce alot of the killers names, and have some scewed facts about Charles Manson...but otherwise it was pretty dead on. Heck for $5 its also worth the watch.

I would also like to see the movie Gamer, as Michael C Hall(Dexter) is in it. Anyone seen it yet?

I watch a ton of movies but I'm usually behind the times on current stuff. I am a Netflix addict and usually just add things to the cue as they come out, so the newest movies are at the bottom. Sometimes I shift things around, for example Send Me To Hell is next on the list!

Agreed - two quality movies!

MCHR - can't wait to get to season 4. Unfort I can only watch an episode or two of Season 2 every two weeks or so as I have to watch it with the gf. It might take me a while to catch up!

Sounds like some good recommendations here thumbs2:

We also LOVE Dexter!!! We watched the DVD's last year and then started watching it as it aired... However, I think I missed the first one of the season, maybe the first two (urgh). I have 2 or 3 episodes on the DRV that I was hoarding for a rainy day.
