As stated above, depends on size of fish and size of tank. If there's no room in the tank? No. If the original one can fit it in it's mouth? No.

Honestly even in a larger sized tank I probably wouldn't try it unless there are a lot of hiding spaces that would be accessible to the small one but not the large one. Bluegill can get pretty territorial, what other fish are in the tank? If it's just those two it's likely the smaller one will quickly become a target. And as Voidparadigm said, if there's any chance the smaller one can fit in the adults mouth, definitely not.

I have a 1" bluegill in a 55 gal with a 5" bluegill and 2 6" yellow bass.

The only problem is getting the baby bluegill food. Brine shrimp are the key. After I dump the thawed brine shrimp in, I give the big bluegill a worm or two, as the baby sucks up brine shrimp until s/he is full as a tick.

One of my yellow bass will eat brine shrimp. The other prefers something live, like tiny guppies or grass shrimp.

None of these have been aggressive towards the baby bluegill, as far as I can tell.
