Been really wanting to upgrade my goldfish tank for a while. Since I have some time off next month, trying to start planning and gathering supplies now.
What i want is to upgrade my lighting so I can grow different plants. I love love love natural looking planted tanks. Because I currently only have about 1wpg, there isn't much i can grow. i currently have some anubis and elodea but the elodea is messy and the anubis aren't doing too well in my low light either.
so what i really need is help with LIGHTING.
I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 goldfish and 2 ottos.
I want lighting that is:
around 2wpg... (that is good medium lighting for most plants right?)
cheap to maintain
won't eat electricity
won't get too hot
fixed to the top of my tank (not much floor space, can't hang things in my rental apartment)
will fit on my tank with 2 HOB filters.
I think those are the biggest area of concern.
I don't want to drop too much money on this but I can invest in a good fixture if the maintenance is easy enough to make up for it. It would be ideal if the fixtures cost less than a hundred, even better if it was $75 or less.
Anyone got any ideas?
if you want to help me go the extra mile, what kind of plants would you put in this tank?
can't wait to get started! woohoo!
