Males look as though they have a bush stuck on their nose, 1/2-3/4" bristles, females don't

not a very good pic, young male

Basically you dont, as long as the male has a cave(if you have a male) he will trap the female and she will then lay the eggs. The male then will guard them for a period of time while fanning away like mad to keep a nice water flow around them to stop any fungus and they will eventually when hatch and ready to leave just on there own leave the cave. Make sure any other tanks mates aren't large enough to snack on them and they will be fine.

Feed a mix of different veg and algae wafers and basically just watch them grow :)

fat plecos are happy plecos as long as they aren't constipated. sunken bellies usually mean impending death.

Hi all,
Congrats on gravid female Rookie..

My large female is half as fat again, shes looking for a nice spawning site now.
I cannot wait..

Crispy,
My fish cannot be constipated as i feed them a huge variety of veg, they graze on bog oak and algae, plus wafers etc etc..
If one does get a constipated plec, what do u need to do to help move its bowels.. Cheers.
Denis

Will try and get a pic later
