I had a common pleco that died and he was extremely healthy. That's the second one that I tryed to use. Our Ph on our cichlid tank is easily 8. sometimes a bit more, the gold nugget likes soft water.http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/pleco/goldennugget.php They are a bit expensive also and would hate to loose one.

Plecos are the only things that are really african cichlid safe, africans will tear apart snails and anything smaller...
I know people who keep gold nuggets in front tanks, with a ph up around 9 without issues, just so long as they are properly acclimated and don't suffer a beating from the fish plecos easily adjust to different parameters...

Yep that is what mine is in with and the fronts are still small so they will grow up with him so there should be no issues. :ssmile:

But as for aclimating. I have no problem with that as my tanks are exactly the same Ph as my LFS. :ssmile:
