Stocking ideas for 15 gallon.

My daughter is getting a 15 gallon tank for Christmas (tank looks to be a long) and open for ideas on stocking. She wants something on the different side but staying in fresh water. We can do planted (mom will give her some plants if needed lol) or non planted. And of course this is not something she will turn lose with to it herself, I will be coaching her along the way. She likes the Puffers but I was not sure if there where any that did not require brackish water.

Dwarf puffers would fit and love a FW planted tank. They are nippy little things so they need a species only tank.

For a 15g, you could get a small group of shellies.
