So my power was out for 2 days, because of a storm that in most parts of the country really wouldn't cause even much notice I imagine. Unfortunately the utility infrastructure here is pretty bad. I managed to not actually lose any fish, used a portable power source i have going from tank to tank to bump the heaters and at least keep them above 70 degrees. When the power finally came back on and I got a good look at the fish in my 50 there is a massive Ich breakout. Some of the worst cases of ich I've ever seen, man this sucks, the whole time I was worried about the temps and this happens once I know everything is fine. I imagine it was caused by the lower than usual temps and the stress to the fish involved with that. Well, hopefully i can clear this up without any losses, it's pretty bad.

I would start looking at back up power supplies.
They are upgrading hydro in our area next week and are shutting the power down for 6hrs sun and mon.
I have access to a generator if its any longer.

Great. Hope you can get this cleared up quickly. Power outages are constant in my area when winter hits. The whole town is huge trees handing over power lines and I always wonder why they aren't trimmed in the summer months. Hope your fish will be OK.

Actually this is the first time in 26 years of living here I've experienced a power outage this long. Other than the Loma Prieta earthquake 20 years ago, which was pretty major. Typically the 12 or so hours I get from my backup power supply is plenty. Thankfully the fish are still pretty active and looking good except for the nasty white spots... I'm fairly sure they'll all pull through.
