Just ran and turned my TV on and it's still going. What's the speed of that thing? It looks like it's going really fast, too. Poor kid must be scared to death. It's a wonder he doesn't hit some wires or trees. Where's the kid at? It looks like a closed system.

oh, oh. It's down now but no kid!

candice&jeff

I think he's inside the thing, the little round bottom....It does look like its going really fast!!

Another thing I'm wondering, what about pressure from being so high?

That thing had no kid in it when it landed. If he fell out well hopefully hes ok. I wonder if his buddy did it got scared when it left and they took off.Unless he did it on his own.
Either that or its a story the parents made up when they filled and forgot to tie it down.lol

There was a basket attatched to the balloon when it took off.The kid was in that.
They are still looking for the basket or box that was connected.
They have an 80 mile search area.
It was as high as 7000ft at one point.

Lady Hobbs
10-15-2009, 10:18 PM
It doesn't look good for this little boy at all. New reports are saying people did see something falling from it, probably that basket, so the search is now more localized.

I just saw that he was found safe.I dont know the particulars.Thank God.
I just looked it up.He was hiding in a cardboard box at home the whole time.

After I hugged him,,,I would spank then ground him.

Wonder if the father will be charged with some type of negligence?

Lady Hobbs
10-16-2009, 02:27 AM
You gotta be kidding me. All the police around and that balloon was in the air for two hours. Why did his brother say he was in the balloon? Glad he's safe but his hiding sure caused a lot of grief for his parents.

Unless there's more we don't know...I wouldn't consider the Dad negligent - kids do stuff they're not supposed to...sometimes no matter how careful the parents are.

I think there's a difference between a true accident and negligence.

Looks like his brothers suckered their little brother into the balloon, then tried to release it. The six-year-old saw what they were doing, and got out before it sailed away. Boys being boys, which is what happens when you have three in a row like that; let's see what trouble we can get little brother into.

A trick that could have gone horribly wrong, and thankfully did not.

My three elder brothers, born in a span of four years, were 'a handful' when they were young like that, according to my mother.

If that is indeed what happened, those parents should be majorly fined for all the expense of the emergency services.

The police spent a lot of time with them and beleive their fear was real.
They also interveiws the brother.

first of all, thank god that a 6 year old boy did not get himself into danger like that...

but i think that this whole thing was a hoax...

that family has been on a reality tv show, and has already recently pitched themselves to some networks saying they want their family to be the subject of a brand new reality show. the little boy was interviewed after and when reporters asked him why he hid in the attic, he answered that he did it for the show.

the father denies it is a hoax, and the police so far have said they dont believe it is, but it just seems like one to me....

that family is a bunch of whackos...when they were on the show 'wife swap', they were described as believing in aliens, and they believe humans descended from aliens.....just weird stuff. i would not put it past the father there to stage this to draw publicity, trying to get that reality show on his crazy family...and you wait, it will probably work for him, too

yeah i saw the broadcast.. the kid kind of slip.. if it is a hoax.... WHAT A HORRIBLE SCAM!!!

frank_zappa
10-16-2009, 09:29 PM
oh yeah, and according to the news, when this first happened, the family did not call the police or emergency 911, they called a local news station and then they called 911

they said they called the news station because they thought they could get a helicopter after the balloon...yeah, ok

I think they will end up with their own show.If their kids are capeable of luring their little brother into a hot air balloon just to untie the ropes and let it go to see what happens next, imagine what is in line for a tv series!
They may as well give them a show since Kate plus eight is no longer on the air and tied up in a law suit gainst the husband for having an affair and killing that series!:hmm3grin2orange:

I also think it was a hoax...

The simplest answer is often the correct answer...

That explanation answers every hanging question and takes the entire surreal aspect out of this story. Like why would you think a news helicopter would even be allowed to attempt to rescue your kid.

And they had a good motive to stage the whole thing... Which the kid went and confirmed on air.

Reality TV was just a bad idea to begin with.

frank_zappa
10-17-2009, 06:20 PM
what a complete d.b. for pulling that hoax. i hope the police are able to get a confession from one of those kids and that they can recoup the thousands of dollars spent on the search and rescue operation. i read that the police never checked the attic where the kid was hiding because they didnt feel like he could get up there alone....well, i have a strong feeling that he got a hand from his father.

I had been busy and without the (Fox) news on when this all started happening. I almost always have the news on but didn't this time. I called my parents to see how they were doing and my mom told me what was going on at the time (tracking the balloon and everyone sick with worry about the boy), and I was literally gasping when she was telling me the details.

Those parents... URGH! You know, we should bring back the public stocks, as a start, and let everyone throw a bunch of rotting food at them for a few days. Then, of course, present them with the bill for all the cost of the public services that were trying to save their kid. SHAME on them. That poor little boy, and what totally screwed up parents. Totally disgusting!

well, now the police have gone ahead and are planning to file charges in this case.....i am glad to see some justice for this waste of time and complete disregard for decency. so many things wrong about this hoax. i just hope they can get them on something that has some teeth. right now i am hearing something with a max $750 fine. i dont see why they cannot recoup all the losses as far as what it took to send out helicopters, a huge response from emergency and law enforcement, and not to mention redirecting flights and causing who knows what delays at the airport....unbelievable, what terrible parents....and those poor kids being coerced to lie. those parents got children involved in something that required charges to be filed; i would think that there are implications for that as well. and PLEASE do not give this family a show and reward yet ANOTHER person for bad behavior....that would be a sign of a backwards society.

initially, the police took the family's side but since, they have taken evidence from the house and have decided to file charges; i do believe they have them on something, and yes, there is no excuse for behavior like that. it is wrong on so many different levels.

He won't get a show now. This thing was all a hoax and people are totally disgusted with them. Hope they have enough money to pay all their fines and the cost to the state for all the emergency vehicles and cops and choppers. Hope a few farmers sue them for damaged fields and crops.

The guy acts like a creep and the wife like a wall flower afraid to open her mouth. I imagine he's no prince to live with. She's probably as afraid of him as his kids are.

I heard on the news that they may be facing as much as 6 years in prison and as much as $200,000 in fines.

Child services are also investigating what should be done with the children.

The fact that they used their children in this did end up being one of the charges laid against the parents...

The police said they never actually believed the family but only said they did on TV in order to gain the family's trust while the investigation went on. They made an apology for having to resort to tricking the public in order to make the investigation easier, but personally I'm not offended in the least.

frank_zappa
10-19-2009, 01:53 AM
i am not offended, either...that is good work by those police. i am glad it looks like they will be held accountable and if theyre facing time, i guess it would be pretty hard to have a reality show
