My Betta died last night, from age I guess (had him a while), so now I have a planted and cycled 5g tank available for occupancy.
Obviously, whatever goes in there MUST be small scale. I'm asking for suggestions, as I'm not sure I want another Betta.
I have been thinking about invertebrates as an alternative, but I'm not sure if they'd be okay for a tank this small.
Tank is 76 degrees, 2wpg, Aquaclear 20 hob filter, and a Tom Aquatic micro filter. Parameters are adjustable, if the new occupants require it.

You could put a couple neon tetras (cardinal) in there. I seen a vid on youtube just today that was planted and looked real nice with them in there.

Yes you could do a nice colony of shrimp. Cherries are the easiest.

Called "Jenn's 5g shrimp tank." Total inspiration to me - I'm going with the shrimp!!
If you haven't seen the thread, CHECK IT OUT! Her tank is gorgeous!

I would just get another betta.
The tank is really too small for much else besides shrimp.
I don't think its big enough for neons but thats just my opinion.:22:

Not sure you can really put 6 tetras in a 5g.
I'd just do the shrimp - sounds like an excellent plan

:+1: for shrimp
Agree it's too small for tetras.

I say go for the shrimp, but imo it's not too small for 5-6 neons as long as there are plenty of plants and it's not just a barren wasteland with a sprig here or there.

I've decided to go with the shrimp. I've got neons in my big tank now, and I'd rather try something new and different from what I already have.
From the "Jenn's 5g" thread I referred to earlier, it sound like I could have 30 or 40 shrimp in the tank, which would be very cool!
The tank currently has water wisteria and a couple small (compacta) swords in it. Jenn's tank gives me the inspiration to put in some different plants; I just wish I could find some nice wood pieces like she has! The lfs's around here don't have doodly-squat for a selection.
I'll try to post some pictures once I get it set up.
