Hi,

So I've just finished cycling and am ready to put in my first fish, but in the past week I've had a little boom of snails. I wasn't too worried, but then I noticed that there were lots of tiny white wriggly things floating around in the aquarium, which I thought at first were just inanimate junk. Could they be immature snails? A few days later (after I was away for 3 days) I am seeing lots of light brown "tubes" -- kind of looks like fish excrement -- lying ontop of my rocks. I'm wondering if it's the wriggly things. They look kind of dead, though, and I don't know what might have killed them.

Anyway, any advice on what to do about snails, if anything?

Also, any fish that might enjoy vacuuming up the wriggly things?

thanks

Corys do a good job of eating the worms that grow in the substrate. So do kuhli loaches.

Dont feed to much and the snails will not become a problem. You can remove them as you see them.

If your tank is big enough, clown loaches love eating snails and look amazing.

They're nothing to worry about, just benthic worms that you'll find in most tanks. Your fish will eat them. And not overfeeding, like rich said, will help quell the snail population. You can also squish them, then they become fish food.
