Just stumbled upon Aquatic Community by Googling for "potted aquarium plants". Gave my aquarium a good "clean out" and wanted to put new plants in. So far have put the plants down in the gravel, but was thinking of small pots with slits for the roots. Easier to plant and to move around if so required. It's a 20-gallon tank with 5 species of Tetras (3 each). Filtration with the Eclipse (Marineland) system, which I think is great and easy to maintain. Had Java Fern, but do not like the "creeping" root system, so now experimenting with different species. Use Boyds Vita Diet slow sinking crumbles for feeding, which I understand is the best food around. Lighting with 2 Nutri Grow 24" 20W lamps (right now on for 7 hours - from 8 am to 3 pm. Aquarium is 30Wx12Hx12D.
Any suggestions and/or comments most welcome.

Right now, my plant abilities are limited to the plastic and silk varieties!!! You'll find many others here who are plant knowledgeable, though. You might want to post the question on the plant section, too:

Welcome to the AC! I love having plants so good luck with that. I have also found that the light you have makes a big difference.
