lazy upside down catfish plays dead?

i have a 10 gallon tank with a plant, a neon tetra, 2 "glow fish"(orange and yellow) and upside down catfish and some more tropical community fish i don't know the name of.
i got the upside down catfish in petsmart a week ago to help out my small cleaning lady, because there was quite a bit of algae in the tank.
when i put the upside down catfish in the tank, it went straight behind our in-tank filter and started cleaning.
every time the upside down catfish goes to sleep, it turns upside down(the "upside down catfish" turns upside down, how ironic) and floats. whenever it's awake (those few hours a day) it cleans the exact same spot over and over behind the filter.

is he ill?
do i need to take him(or her) back to petsmart?

They are not very active fish to begin with. I think he will be fine. Does it have a cave or good hiding spot? May make it feel more comfortable.

He's doing what catfish do. Feed him at night when you turn the lights off. That's when he's out and about more.

could be over crowding, depending on how many other fish you have in the tank, and no place to hide.

A 10gal tank is not big enough for that fish.....
