What do you want? There is some choices. Smaller tetras would work, neons, xrays, glolights, cardinals, or embers. A betta or dwarf gourami as a center peice. Dwarf or Panda corys on the bottom.

If you want colorful and active I would go with 6 fancy male guppies. They are very flashy and would be fine in that small of a tank.

I agree with Lab Rat - 6 fancy guppies are good.

You have choices. There are several senarios. Here are a couple examples.

1. 6 fancy male guppies.

2. 6 neon tetras.

3. A male betta fish, and a 3-4 corys on the bottom. Panda corys are especially cool looking for lots of people.

The get an idea what they look like, go to the photo gallery and put the name of the fish in the search.

There is not an exact number of fish you can put in a tank it depends on how big the fish are going to get. There is a fish called dario dario or scarlet dario that stays very small about an inch and it is pretty colorful you could maybe have 4 of those guys and add a mystery snail they get pretty big so will definately see it and come in many different colors very pretty.

You would only be able to use just 1 of those options.
I personally would go with the Guppys. Very colorful and active. I have a 10 gallon that I have just guppys in and it's a fun little tank.

guppy tank
neon tank
glo-fish tank

with shrimp or corys to any of them. I would keep it to a one specie fish since the tank is small.
