i didnt know what cichlid thread this would go in, so i'll post it here.
Since my heavily planted 20g is understocked, im gonna take some of my fish from the other 20g there ( the 2 baby angels and platys), leaving the tank with only a few small fish. What i would then do with the 20g is put in a few cichlids. can anyone name a few good 20g cichlids?

Convicts could work but idk if I would want to try it. They get 4 to 5 inches and thats pretty big for a 20g. Also there aggression is high So they may not have enough room in a 20g.
Maybe some kribs there perfect for a 20g. And the can really color up and look amazing.
Rams would work to. Let me suggest german blue rams to you I have some and they look really nice. They also stay around 2.5 inches. you could have a nice group of them in there.

I found a site that said they get along with tetras, is that true?

Sounds like the Rams would work in my tank to add a little more color.....I'd also be interested in knowing if they get along with tetra's as my tank is nearly half tetra's.

Yes they should get along with tetras. They both like low ph so you will be fine there.

the keyword here is "should." it is very possible that they will not get along with tetra, just as it's very possible they will get along with them. definitely keep a close eye on the combo.

The tetra's are brats anyhow... may be time for them to move to another tank...

none of my tetras are brats. I have a betta with glowlights, neons, bloodfins, and golden tetras, and they all mind their own buisness

I like the rams, too. I'm always afraid of their difficulty level, though. Bolivian rams would be a nice substitute if you have bad luck with the Rams.
Lots of people keep a pair of convicts in 20g tanks, but they are the only ones in there for obvious reasons.
Also, there's festivums. They grow to about 4 or 5 inches and look pretty cool. Temperement seems to be pretty mild.
