Hey folks,

I recently took a few pictures of one of my black moors. This one has the most interesting character

thanks for the comments everyone!

by the way it is a she:19:
she is truly amazing to watch. Very active and has a very nice tail.
The other one you see in one of the pictures is a male. He likes to be "cool" and acts as if he is not interested:hmm3grin2orange:

Gorgeous eyes. How old are they? Most Blackmoors I see have beach ball bellies. So, are these just young or were they bred this way/is this their full-grown shape?

If I could find a fancy like that it'd be mine in a heartbeat.

They are about 1.5 years old now. To my knowledge fancies wont grow much after a year or 2. So i guess they will stay like that.
You are right about the bellies though. Many of the black moor fry that i have been breeding (pics on the breeding subforum) have relatively bigger bellies than their parents.
The moor on the pictures has a very slender body. Its kind of short and slightly fat and i gotta say the overal look is amazing. I was sold right away when i first saw it.
The male has a longer body but its much thinner

I've got to keep an eye out in case a stray slender fancy makes its way into the LFS. Wonder if there's anyone out there who purposefully breeds them like this or if they're just the result of unsupervised breeding and/or flukes. Hm.

Thanks for the info. :22:

to be honest, the place where i got them from didnt really have quality fish. I have to say that i was extremely lucky with this one! The eyes, fins and tail look amazing, it was very active compared to the rest. The only thing that is irregular is the body shape. I like it more this way though xD

After i bought these i went back to that shop a few times and they had more black moors. they looked HORRIBLE!! Awful condition, almost looked like an experiment that failed. I never went back to that shop again..

In this case i do not think that they were purposefully bred this way.

lol. Sounds like the LFS here. Every time I go in the fancies look uglier and more overbred than before. I thought the whole point of this selective breeding idea was to get more attractive lookin fish! lol. =P

aw what cool fish! I had one once for a day but my other goldfishes murdered him the very first night. I found him eyeless and dead in the corner :(
